Default Palin's Troopergate explained: an all Repuglican scandal

Yes, yes, we know that Sarah Palin doesn't want her family's peccadilloes talked about, even though her staff revealed her daughter's pregnancy to the national news organizations but unfortunately this scandal is all about her family and theyre ALL repuglicans---even her former brother in law.
So we get to talk about it all we want

At issue here is whether Palin abused her office to retaliate against her former brother in law----an Alaska State trooper. And boy is he a piece of work!! A conservative repuglican: Tasering his own 10 year old kid!! Some real repuglican "family values" there.

Let's review what happened.

The Palin family had a feud with Wooten prior to her becoming governor. They put together a list of 14 accusations which they took to the state police to investigate -- a list that ranged from the quite serious to the truly absurd. The state police did an investigation, decided that 5 of the charges had some merit and suspended Wooten for ten days -- a suspension later reduced to five days. The Palin's weren't satisfied but there wasn't much they could do.

When Palin became governor they went for another bite at the apple. Palin, her husband and several members of her staff began pressuring Public Safety Commissioner, Walt Monegan -- a respected former Chief of the Anchorage police department -- to can Wooten. Monegan resisted, arguing that the official process regarding Wooten was closed. And there was nothing more that could be done. In fact, during one of the conversations in which Palin's husband Todd was putting on the squeeze, Monegan told Todd Palin, "You can't head hunt like this. What you need to do is back off, because if the trooper does make a mistake, and it is a terminable offense, it can look like political interference."

Eventually, Palin got fed up and fired Monegan from his job. (Palin claims, not credibly, that she fired Monegan over general differences in law enforcement priorities.) This is an important point. Wooten never got fired. To the best of my knowledge, he's is still on the job. The central bad act was firing the state's top police official because he refused to bend to political pressure from the governor and her family to fire a public employee against whom the governor was pursuing a vendetta -- whether the vendetta was justified or not.

Soon after this, questions were raised in the state about Monegan's firing and he eventually came forward and said he believed he'd been fired for not giving in to pressure to fire Wooten.

After Monegan made his accusations, Palin insisted there was no truth whatsoever to his claims. Nonetheless, --->a bipartisan committee of the state legislature<---approved an investigation. In response, Palin asked the Attorney General to start his own investigation which many in the state interpreted as an effort to either keep tabs on or tamper with the legislature's investigation. Again, very questionable judgment in someone who aspires to be first in line to the presidency.

The Attorney General's investigation quickly turned up evidence that Palin's initial denials were false. Multiple members of her staff had raised Wooten's employment with Monegan. Indeed, the state police had a recording of one of her deputies, Frank Bailey pushing Monegan to fire Wooten. That evidence forced Palin to change her story. Palin said that this was the first she'd heard of it and insisted the deputy wasn't acting at her behest, even though the transcript of the recorded call clearly suggested that he was.

Monegan gave an interview to the Washington Post in which he said that not only Palin's aides, but Palin's husband and Palin herself had repeatedly raised the Wooten issue with him and pressured him to fire him. And now he says he has emails that Palin sent him about the matter. (In an interesting sidelight, that may end up telling us a lot, Monegan says no one from the McCain campaign ever contacted him in the vetting process.)

The investigator appointed by the state legislature began trying to arrange a time to depose Gov. Palin last week -- in other words, in the final days before her selection.

So let's put this all together.

We rely on elected officials not to use the power of their office to pursue personal agendas or vendettas. It's called an abuse of power. There is ample evidence that Palin used her power as governor to get her ex-brother-in-law fired. When his boss refused to fire him, she fired his boss. She first denied Monegan's claims of pressure to fire Wooten and then had to amend her story when evidence proved otherwise. The available evidence now suggests that she 1) tried to have an ex-relative fired from his job for personal reasons, something that was clearly inappropriate, and perhaps illegal, though possibly understandable in human terms, 2) fired a state official for not himself acting inappropriately by firing the relative, 3) lied to the public about what happened and 4) continues to lie about what happened.

And where we are now is this: Palin initially agreed to "cooperate fully" with the investigations. Now she, the McCain campaign and the whole corrupt Alaskan Repuglican parthy want to get the matter turned over to the Alaska State personnell department, which is--- SURPRISE!!--- staffed by Palin appointees. Theyre accusing the BIPARTISAN commtee of being a "political witchhunt." Which means, of course, that she was FOR the comittee before she was against it.

Palin's staff has refused to be deposed for this, which sure makes that "Cooperating fully" line a flat out lie. To make it easy on Palin, the head of the ccommittee will take her deposition instead of subpoenaing her---will she do it or not? thats the question.

The committee has elected to ignore the protests and issue a report from their investigator, a former Alaska state prosecutor. They say that Goernor Palin deserves to have this determined finally before the election---a fully correct view--- and will be issuing their report by Oct 10.

If Monegan's statement is true, than thats it for Sarah right there, at least in terms of being the vice president and that wold probably mean curtains for the McCain campaign as well. Monegan says he has emails from Palin and her husband and there's a tape recording of frank Bailey, Palin's top aide pressuring Wooten, the brother in law. there';a also clear eveidence that Palin's staff accesed her brother in law's personnel files illegally.

This whole case brings to light, among other things , Todd Palin's involvement on governmental affairs---what the hell is this bozo doing interfering with government process? I'm sure we can look forward to having more of this bozo making decisions if Palin is elected.

What Palin needs to do is come clean and tell her staff to ccome clean, instead of running and hiding from simple justice: a simple look for America into how she runs her office.
And whats reallly great about this is its an ALL Repuglican scandal---its about Repuglicans misusing the power of their office to get back at other repugs.
Sweet!

Last HONEST & LEGITIMATE and/or documented: "Troopergate" in America that anyone
ever heard of,...was regarding the Greatly Power Abusing (even towards women) Governor Bill Clinton.

So,...why pervertedly & bogusly misusing same term for Governor Palin?

What a crock!!!

Alaskans, and Americans, have a right to know what their elected officials are doing. But since you raised historical abuses of power, lets not forget Nixon bugging the Democratic National offices under the pretense of "national security"

Let justice be done!

"....Governor is stonewalling the Troopergate investigation

Published: September 5th, 2008 12:11 AM
Last Modified: September 5th, 2008 03:03 AM

Gov. Sarah Palin is taking the wrong approach to Troopergate. She should be practicing the open and transparent, ethical and accountable government she promised when running for governor and boasts about now that she's on the national stage.

Instead, Gov. Palin has begun stonewalling the Legislature's attempt to get the bottom of allegations that she, her family or staff violated ethical or state personnel rules.

As a result, the Troopergate allegations hang over Palin's future and cloud her candidacy for vice president.

The allegations are that she, her family or administration improperly pressured then-Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan to fire Gov. Palin's ex-brother-in-law, state trooper Mike Wooten, who had been in the middle of a custody dispute with Palin's sister.

In July, when legislators started talking about conducting an investigation, Palin denied any wrongdoing and said she welcomed an investigation.

"Hold me accountable," she said..."

OK Sarah, We will!! Why don't you cooperate like you saaid you would?

A certainly LONGTIME, OBVIOUS & WELL DOCUMENTED: "Crock!!!" (according to you), about
America's once philandering Governor & later; "Loverboy-In-Chief" and/or; "Slick Willy" Bill Clinton.
So, don't shrug-such-off so cavalierly,...as most One Party Preferring Democrat Political
Supremacists OFTEN & EXCUSINGLY DO.

Most People remember historical facts,...whether you constant people-deceivers like it or not.

Besides, Governor Palin was straightening out Troopers, and not misusing them for personal
sexual gratification purposes ala typical Bill Clinton, anyway.

Wonder if any Secret Service were also misused or served as guarding pimps,..................
during all or any of Bill's many ON THE JOB & QUITE SLOPPY Monica Breaks?

Default Advisor,...

Hey,...you never know?
Well, at least won't know as long as Bill Clinton's EXCEPTIONALLY UNDERSTANDING Wife is
STILL a U.S. Senator & BOTH obviously vying for same Presidential Power & Control as before,...
at their very next chance. Besides, DNC never like any such kinky truths escaping.

Also, wonder if Old Bill would even permit his old lady having young male interns for coffee breaks
in Oval Office, if Hillary somehow manages to once again connive same team into The White House?
Seems fair enough a question, to me.

You should know better than to try and convince a "CONservative" that their reasoning at best is "confused", or at worst "absolute horse manure"!

I just love waiting for the proverbial "hammer" to come down on this Palin "troopergate" issue.

The "Cons" will be squawking louder than a flock of laughing sea gulls!

Stay good,
