Plant Drops Labor Day For Muslim Holiday

More Than Half Of Tyson Plant's Workforce Muslim (That Tyson imported from Somolia)

SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. -- Some workers at a local plant will no longer to be able to take their Labor Day holiday because of religious reasons.

Workers at the Tyson Foods poultry processing plant in Shelbyville will no longer have a paid day off on Labor Day but will instead be granted the Muslim holiday Eid al-Fitr.

According to a news release from the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, a new five-year contract at the plant included the change to accommodate Muslim workers at the plant.

Former employee and Shelbyville resident Anthony Proctor said he thinks what's happening is wrong.

He said he helped build a special Muslim prayer room that's located inside the plant and that no other Tyson facility has been that accommodating for any other religion.

"If we want to go pray, we don’t have one for Christians," he said.

Tyson is headquartered in Arkansas.

I am also an ex-employee of the Tyson plant and live in the same county (Bedford).

Tyson is a very large plant that works 24/7 so we're talking about hundreds of Somolies, 95% of which are women who wear native garb and speak no English. We're talking small town/rual Tennessee folks. Almost nobody in this neck of the woods had ever seen Arab garb, except on TV, before these folks showed up. Talk about culture shock! And these folks didn't show up until the Feds. showed up got all the illegal Mexicans that had been shipped in (big scandal involving the local sheriff and at least one judge).

Apparently Tyson's has decided to use foreign labor but instead of moving the plant they just bring in the foreigners. Until recently "diversity" meant allowing the occasional Yankee to migrate in. Can't say I'm all that wild about having chicken-for U.S. families-cleaned and packaged by muslims anyway.

I buy only Free Range Chicken, no steroids or other crap, from a special farm in Western NC. Screw Tyson. If I do have to buy standard drugged up cluck....it won't be from them. I suggest that all of y'all think about buying Tysons crap....before you do.

I stopped buying Tyson's drugged up crap a long time ago (early 70s). Nothing since has caused me to reconsider.

I've always bought from a local butcher. That way I know where my chicken comes from.

Simple Solution: go free-range, and simultaneously boycott Tyson's.

Don't forget, Tyson is now selling all kinds of meat including some precooked with gravy.

I live on the opposite side of the Mississippi River from New Orleans. I buy most of my meat from Rotolo's Meat Market in Harvey. He gets his meat from Eagle Packing which is a local meat packing company. He buys pig and beef carcasses and butchers it himself.
He makes about the best Italian, Cajun and Hot sausage there is around.
Better buying there than the meat Wal Mart or Winn Dixie have. Too much red dye in their meat. "ULK"

We also have a tyson plant here. Many many of the same people have been trucked in here. I also know it has taxed our system here. I woud say about 45% are somalians 45% mexican and the rest MAYBE other races. Our health system is crap here because of them. I can't afford my medications but most of these people are getting them at no cost.

Will NOT support that crappy company.
