Default I will be at The Wall this Veteran's Day...

to meet my friend from Vietnam, Gary from Wyoming. He is the one that started me on the road to healing in May 2000. We spent 6 hours on the phone in 2 three hour calls, debriefing each other. Thru laughter, tears, memories, sadness, and humor I was finally able to let go of some of the demons I had held inside for 30 years. I owe him a debt I will never be able to repay. He also introduced me to the History Channel Forum where I first met many of you.

If any of you will be there as well, let me know so I can meet you.

May God Bless,

Larry

Larry,
I won?t be there so I guess we?ll have to wait until next April to meet, but I hope you and Gary can continue to help one another. But I do have a favor to ask. Could you find the time to just stop in front of panel 21W and say Frisbee is thinking of you and will never forget, to the names on lines 97 thru 104?
I would greatly appreciate it.

Larry, go in the morning before 9AM and you will have it to yourselves. Except for all those guys on the Wall, they will welcome you with open arms.

Larry,

What Doc Fred says. The wall can be a great place but last time I was there it was so crowded it was awful. Get there early in the a.m.! Have a good time and tell all the guys "hey" for me.

Have a safe trip and make sure you see the wall at night....its one hellva site. Parking around the mall is tricky during the week so make sure you read the signs posted in the area. I believe you cant park on the street before 9am to allow for rush hour traffic. but the side streets are OK

Thumbs up Visiting The Wall at Night:

Mortardude, if you want peace and quiet, and to get away from all of the tourists, try visiting The Wall at night or after sunset. You will have the Sacred Ground all to yourself and can be free to express your feelings without anyone else watching you.

I have visited The Wall several times after dark. The lighting illuminates the Granite Stone with gives it a beauty that is not apparent during daylight hours. I know there are signs posted that The Wall is closed after sunset but I have never been bothered while there after hours.

During one visit, a friend of mine and I took a six pack of Beer and stopped at Panel #45 West to pay our respects to my Best Buddy, HM3 Alan R. Gerrish. We just sat on the grass across from Panel #45 West and drank our beers. I know it is crazy but I actually felt that Alan was there also and I had never felt so in contact with him as during that time spent after dark. It was almost like he was there with us. When we left, we took all the empties with us but left one full can near Alan's name.

Consider visiting The Wall at night Mortardude. I think that you will find the peace and serenity you are looking for. I know that I did. WELCOME HOME BROTHER:

Has anyone else been to The Wall after dark? If so, did you also get a different feeling then you obtained while visiting during regular daylight hours?

To all of the rest of my Vietnam Veteran Brothers and Sisters I also want to state:

WELCOME HOME
