Big Trouble In Little Paradise?
?Here in San Diego County (one of many suffering financial microcosms of life in America), selective greed is again rearing its ugly little head!?
Granted, some very hard times could be just around the corner for us all, but in a typical political move, and one that is reminiscent of way too many bureaucratic mindsets, ?Many May End Up Suffering, So That The Connected Few May Feast!? With a new and hurtful contract for San Diego Police Officers due to be voted upon soon, and this just to maintain a semblance of parity with the rest of the state's law enforcement agencies, up to 50 hard-working and courageous cops may be set to walk off of the job if they don?t get what they feel that they need to survive upon! As a matter of fact, even our teachers and schools here in the Golden State, are feeling the pain of the selective financial castration of certain essential positions of the California mainstream! And for that matter, even the libraries here on the Shakeyside, are now being forced to close down for an additional day each week because of a tightened budget (for some)! "Is this truly becoming a scenario where the dog eat dog mentality rules the roost of state?" Those precious little darlings in government (the San Diego City Council in this case), however, are at it again - ?NO CUTS IN $$$$ FOR THESE BUGGERS!!? To Hell with the Cops, teachers, students, libraries and everybody else for that matter, the San Diego City Council is bellowing aloud that they, like their mentors in the Nation's Capitol, want another raise!? One voted on no doubt, in the dead of night, just like the big boys in Washington D.C.! "After all, anyone who helped to nearly bankrupt America?s Finest City (San Diego), certainly deserves a little recognition in the form of a bigger pay check, do they not?" Are we fast entering yet another ?Age of Les Miserables Revisited?" One in which some firmly entrenched political bonvivants have pulled out all stops and no longer even attempt to mask their greed or vested dealings!? ?Let the other guy suffer, some in government echo, we are the elite and we make the rules!? No one would dare; after all, to shake our gold-plated tree, or make waves over something as petty as voting ourselves nice little raises when the common people themselves continue to suffer! After all, some politicos reason, you can always cut back on the school lunch programs, medical help for the less than affluent masses, continue to raise gas prices, and maybe even euphemize the poor, but don?t you ever dare to cut into our three martini and caviar brunches! ?THEM?S FIGHTING WORDS!? ?And so it is, and so (apparently) it will always be!??
