HR 4667 "BOGUS" E-mail SCAM about VA Disability Pay Increases!
There is an "E-mail" floating around the internet about HR 4667 that is nothing more than a ridiculous SCAM that everyone should be aware of.
Please read the info below and check out the "links" provided that prove this "E-mail" is a "SCAM"! --------------------------------- RUMOR CONTROL: THERE WILL BE NO ACROSS-THE-BOARD INCREASE IN VA BENEFITS! Bogus email has disabled veterans thinking there will be a large, across-the-board increase in VA benefits for 2011. Wrong! by Larry Scott, VA Watchdog dot Org Veterans' Advocate Jim Strickland sent me the following information. --------------------------------- SCAM Alert. I'm getting emails today from a number of veterans who are getting news that their disability pay will jump from $123.00 to $406.00 (10%) and $2673.00 to $4646.00 (100%). The headers make it appear as if this is passing around like wildfire. From a VA employee (at VACO who should know better) "Jim, My co worker sent me this today. I haven't been able to confirm it. Fyi" From a veteran, "Jim one more question? I just got a call from a vet telling me that the VA is planning to give vets an across the board increase. Not a cola just a one time increase. Any truth to that???" The emails cite House Bill 4667 and say this is not COLA but an increase to raise our standard of living. Read 4667 carefully and it is the usual year end COLA and this year is likely 0% increase. The attached PDF is somebody's wet dream. Veterans...if it sounds too good to be true, well, you know the rest. Read The Bill: H.R. 4667 - GovTrack.us www.govtrack.us http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-4667 Jim --------------------------------- If you look at the document in the above PDF that gives dollar amounts, you will see that it has a "S" header ... that would be the Senate not the House. Also, there is no bill number attached and it is from the first session of the 111th Congress and we are in the second session. If this bill, if it even is one, had been introduced it would have made big waves ... if it had passed it would have created tidal waves in the veterans' community. So, there is no big increase coming for disabled vets. And, as it stands right now, there will no COLA in 2011. Remember, VA COLA is tied to Social Security COLA. Read this article for the latest information ... http://www.vawatchdog.org/10/nf10/nf...nf092210-3.htm ---------------------------------------------------------- Hope this explains the BOGUS E-mail!
