(TNS) As Democrats, their allies in the mainstream media, and #NeverTrumpers continue to beat up on the administration over it’s ‘poor response’ to the coronavirus, leave it to Fox News’ Tucker Carlson to take a 30,000-foot view of the*real problem here.





That would be China.

Opening his Friday program, Carlson addressed what few in the media have acknowledged about the coronavirus thus far, as it relates to the possibility that it could become a pandemic: Our healthcare system is not just inextricably tied to China, it has been*monopolized by China, as has the healthcare systems of every other Western country.

And why? Because the vast majority of our medical devices and diagnostic machines, our pharmaceuticals, and our medical supplies such as personal protective equipment (masks, biohazard suits, gloves) come from a Communist country that very well could become our enemy on the battlefield someday.

A country that, of course, is suffering a massive productivity decline thanks to a viral outbreak that started there.

“Our chief global rival has a total monopoly on the most important medicine in the world,” Carlson said — antibiotics, of which more than 95 percent are made in China.

“That should worry you more than anything the [2020 presidential] candidates are currently talking about,” he continued. “Imagine watching one of your children die from an infected cut. China has the power to make that happen.”

He also notes that the Chinese government is “acutely aware of this power.” Carlson said that last year, a Chinese economist suggested cutting off the supply of antibiotics to the U.S. as leverage against the U.S. in the trade war. And while “that should have been the biggest story in America,” Carlson said, “the news media all but ignored it.”

That’s absolutely true. As Zero Hedge reported this week, an article published by Chinese state media outlet Xinhua hinted that Beijing could ‘blackmail’ countries using its pharmaceutical monopoly. Specifically, the article ‘suggested’ that China could impose a travel ban on the U.S. like Trump imposed on China, which could also include a*strategic restriction over medical exports, leaving America*“plunged into the mighty sea of coronavirus.”

None of this has been lost on the Trump administration. Last month, as the virus began to spread beyond China’s borders, “White House trade advisor Peter Navarro admitted that the United States relies too heavily on communist China to produce its pharmaceutical drugs, and that that supply could dwindle due to the continued spread of novel coronavirus,” Natural News reported.

“This is a wake-up call for an issue that has been latent for many years but is critical to U.S. economic and national security,” Navarro told the media, warning that drugs, vitamins and other dietary supplements, and medical equipment sold here in America often come directly from Chinese sources.

“If we have learned anything from the coronavirus and swine flu H1N1 epidemic of 2009, it is that we cannot necessarily depend on other countries, even close allies, to supply us with needed items, from face masks to vaccines,” he added.

There’s no question that is true. As Carlson notes further, Americans should think more about the issue when they hear about coronavirus-related ‘supply chain disruptions’ — the result of decades’ worth of trade policies that made “a few moguls wealthy” while transferring U.S. industrial capacity to — where else? — China.

“People who hate us, and seek to displace us, make” the things we now need to protect our own people — now and in the future.

Of course, it’s not simply medical machines and supplies. China owns the manufacturing markets for nearly everything that is vitally important to our daily lives: Computers, cellphones, automobile parts, and nearly all electronics.

Now, he added, there are some political candidates — Democrats, of course — who want to “shut down the last independent part of the American economy,” our energy sector.

“This is sabotage,” he intoned. “And we’re about to learn how undermined we’ve been.”
