![]() Trump abruptly scraps trip to CDC Friday
By: Anita Kumar - Politico - 03-06-20 Re: https://www.politico.com/news/2020/0...-friday-122653 Trump was expected to visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta on Friday even as the coronavirus outbreak escalates. President Donald Trump abruptly canceled his scheduled Friday visit to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta even as the coronavirus outbreak escalates. Trump’s schedule Friday, which was released publicly at nearly midnight, no longer listed the trip to Atlanta, though the president planned to fly to the Nashville area following a series of deadly tornadoes there, and then onto Florida, where he is scheduled to spend three nights at his south Florida retreat, Mar-a-Lago. A White House official confirmed the visit had been scrapped. “The CDC has been proactive and prepared since the very beginning and the president does not want to interfere with the CDC’s mission to protect the health and welfare of their people and the agency,” the official said. White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham did not respond to questions. Late Thursday, on a trip to Washington state, where coronavirus deaths reached double digits this week, Vice President Mike Pence announced that Trump would sign an $8 billion coronavirus funding bill during his CDC trip. “We are making progress,” Pence said at a news conference in Tacoma, Washington. “As I mentioned, federal assistance was approved by the United States Senate. President Trump is expected to sign the legislation tomorrow as he visits the CDC in Atlanta.” Trump, who put Pence in charge of the administration's response to the outbreak, has made a point to talk about coronavirus regularly but he has largely continued with his normal schedule. He spoke at a campaign rally Monday in Charlotte and a Fox New town hall in Scranton, Pa. on Thursday and will headline a series of fundraisers in Florida this weekend. In his public remarks, Trump has dispensed questionable theories about the virus and contradicted some of the information coming from medical professionals, including the 3.4 percent death rate projection by the World Health Organization. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal note: Trump is fearful of getting the Coronavirus so he's staying put. I bet he got checked out with a test to make sure he didn't catch it. I bet he doesn't even go to Mar-a-Lago because someone working there may have been in contact with someone who has the Coronavirus. Insecurity is working on him - will I catch this and from whom? He's sending the VP around these areas that he should be attending to. Isolation is his best place to be during this outbreak. I just got a letter from the VA to come for blood work and a doctor visit - its my yearly thing with them. They said the place is like a nut house with so many people coming in for follow ups. Who knows if one of us is a carrier? Things are getting really nuts and many folks are worried who will catch this. I went the VFW post 6448 last night had about six beers the place nearly empty 1 Vet and me except for the barkeep. Boats

![]() Boats,
Being realistic in that there's nothing helpful or worthwhile President Trump (or any non-medical types)) can do by going or not going to the CDC aside,...me thinks you've come up with about the best solution so-far, as to fighting the UNKNOWN and/or the corona virus. I don't know about you. But: "Six beers" would make me think about ANYTHING BUT the corona virus. For sure. In fact, and at my age, and to put it another way, I would think about what President FDR once said during a time of great crisis,...which was: "We have nothing to fear but fear itself". Besides, calming any population is certainly much more honest and helpful, than constantly scaring Americans all-to-hell ABOUT EVERYTHING, as is so commonly done politically by America's Leftists and their Leftist mainstream press/media. Sad and Sicko, but true. Neil
