Marines assigned to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (11th MEU) conduct insertion exercises from a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter. The 11th MEU is embarked aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), deployed supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
