Talking Land Of Extremes!

?Buckets and Buckets, and it ain?t Tequila!?

We here in San Diego County are privy to some real extremes when it comes to just about everything! Hell, a couple of days back, we even allowed Arnold Schwarzenegger to grace our fair streets! And if you want rain, all that you have to do is schedule a politico, any politico, for an appearance in the area - ? Rain -God?s own Sanitation Company!?

?And hey, talk about your extremes!? This area had gone some six months or so without a drop of liquid sunshine. Now, even as we speak, the skies have opened up and it is coming down by the barrel full - feast or famine!! Now if we could only pry open some of those politico?s and bureaucrat?s heads, maybe the rain would flush out the cobwebs and sewage! Hell, who knows, maybe (just maybe), the vacant gap created by the flushing-out would re-inhabit itself with a little truth and honesty? ?Naw, that would be too much to hope for!!

Well, at least the ground is benefiting from the torrential deluge! Hell, even the Coyotes were so thirsty that they were starting to steal beers (cerveza) from the local gin mill!

Away back in 1916 (I believe), the backcountry (in desperation) imported a rainmaker (Hell, they even made a movie about it) named Charlie Hatfield. The old huckster set up his equipment about 6 or 7 miles, as the buzzard flies, from my front door!

After cranking up his equipment, the infernal machinery began to huff and puff, and belched out cloud after cloud of noxious gas! This went on for some time, until lo and behold, storm clouds began to form, and the rain came tumbling down!
It rained and it rained until the streams were overflowing and dams began to burst, causing widespread flooding!

Well, it is extremely doubtful that ?Old Man Hatfield? was the catalyst for the deluge, but the City of San Diego, that relies upon mountain rain runoff for part of it?s water supply, was outraged! As a matter of fact, they even refused to pay Charlie Hatfield the fee that they had agreed upon for his labors. Hell, rumor has it that they wanted to run him out of town on a rail!

The bottom line here is that in the last 88 plus years, not much has changed within the political mentality! A few politicians are still making huge promises and delivering next to nothing, after they get what they want that is - power, affluence, and political royalty status!

If one were to remove the ego, arrogance, and facade from some political and bureaucratic types, all that would remain is the encrusted ring inside of the toilet bowl!

Now don?t get me wrong - there are a few good and dedicated politicians, but like any opiate, absolute power does indeed - corrupt the morally and ethically weak - absolutely!

?Now back to the rain!!?
