Question Rick,
Do you think they'll demand stricter building codes for those living in dangerous areas?

IF you live in a high danger area, it is a must to have a metal roof. They do that in various places in WA. One fire chief was saying that a large percentage of the houses that burned were homes with cedar shake roofs and that in some cases local building statutes required cedar shake shingles. If so that must change and when people rebuild they must rebuild with fire resistance homes a requirement. They have some really pretty fire resistant metal shingles, and also shingles of a ceramic base material. I live in a place were the desert meets the mountains and we have the same possibilities right here in my area. About five or six years ago an area west of Wenatchee, WA caught fire. Many homes burned but those with larger green spaces and metal roofs survived. Amazing what a little prevention can prevent.
