Patrol car hit by paintballs; search turns up five teens

(Newburgh - AP) ? A patrol car traveling on Interstate 84 was bombarded with paintballs, and five teens stand accused of the artless crime after an equally clumsy getaway.

Newburgh town police officer Joseph Miller entered the eastbound lanes of the highway Tuesday night where his car was paintballed in a barrage that appeared to come from nearby apartments.

He radioed for help. Police say their search led to an apartment with the door open, nobody home, and nine paintball guns and numerous paintballs inside. Also left behind was a learner's permit, which led them to their first suspect, a 15-year-old.

After that, they turned up four more suspects.

Charged with misdemeanor reckless endangerment are 17-year-old Dane Anderson and Joseph Sayegh of New Windsor and Eric Crane of Newburgh, as well as 18-year-old Christopher Ryan of Newburgh.

They were released to their parents and scheduled for Town Court July 7th.

The 15-year-old was released to his mom. His case was referred to Orange County Family Court.

Detective Sergeant Margaret O'Neill tells the Times Herald-Record of Middletown that as far as investigators know, Miller's car was the only one splattered.

Default Police cars

We, (some 15 year olds) egged a police car one time, we never got caught.
Paintball a cop car, not a good idea, but most likely not criminal.
We didn't have paint guns or I propibly wouldn't be a Fireman now, Im sure we would have use them.

Thumbs down

Not to funny if you happen to live in the area! Lets see, we also had a woman killed when to assholes dropped a bowling ball off an overpass a few years ago. Couple more a/h's have dropped rocks off the overpasses. A couple were killed on the Saw Mill River Parkway a few months ago when a rock came sailing through the windshield of their car.
They toss snow balls off the overpasses at cars too.
The City of Newburgh has enough problems as it is, we don't need to add any more.
Luckily it wasn't the Town donuts eaters. They'd have called out the helo with the star light looking for these dopes. They "lost" a robbery suspect and put the helo up for hours looking for him. How hard could it be, he escaped custody and was handcuffed!
The found him the next day, minus the cuffs.
They dummies broke the rules of being a criminal! Never leave your learners permit where the cops will find it!

Like I said...not a good idea but it is funny. Bowling balls and rocks hurt people very badly and even kill. Paint splat doesn't. But it does annoy the cops. Even my brother the cop saw the humor. And they caught the stinkers so now they have to pay the price and will hopefully think twice before they do something like this again.

I never expected everyone to agree, but I guess I have a twisted sense of humor, better to laugh than have a coronary.
