Lightbulb "preparing The Field"

?PREPARING THE FIELD?

?Every war needs a smoking gun!? Be it Lexington, naval impressment during the War of 1812, Fort Sumter, the Battleship Maine, Pearl Harbor or the Gulf of Tonkin Incident, a rallying point must be found in order to stir the ire and heat up the blood of patriots!

By preparing the field, public acceptance of the inevitable becomes an almost sure thing. When, however, the public is divided on a course of action, a conflict often becomes protracted and politically damaging! Also, the memory of the public fades in rapid order when the fires of even a winning conflict begin to fizzle. Such was the case in the late eighteenth century, and such is also the case today. If it is true that a fool is doomed to repeat history, then is it not also true that many within government have often acted the
part of said fool!

In 1991, the United States won an overwhelming victory against a well-armed, world-class army in the Middle-East. Our troops and equipment performed magnificently, and success was achieved in short order. This victory, however, although temporarily deifying for the current president?s father, quickly became a forgotten matter, as was
evident by the following national elections! Unlike the success that we enjoyed against two
foes of the 1930s and 1940s (Depression and the Axis), the attention span of ?Old John Q. Public? rapidly took a dump shortly after World War II! ?Ah, how quickly we forget!?

Well, ?George the Second? is nobody?s fool when it comes to learning historical lessons! Not only has he realized that a warrior king is a popular king, he also knows how to prepare a field, villainizing the potential enemy being the first step toward battlefield success!

Well George, you don?t have to villainize Hussein, the al-Qaeda or international terrorism, they have done a splendid job of putrefying themselves! Who but a beast would declare innocent civilians to be targets of opportunity! Insanity is the only word that comes to mind when describing the actions of terrorists. Ghengis Khan used terror as a weapon,
Hitler used it, the Viet Cong used it, and now the Middle-East is using it! The only problem here is that your daddy screwed-up and allowed a rabid dog (Hussein) to slip free of the noose of final retribution, and you and he damned well know it, don?t you?! ?So who?s action is Gulf War II - yours or dear old dad?s?? Are you attempting to patch a tire that has been run flat for over 10 years, or is a successful conflict good for international image!? (Your words, not mine)

Well my powerful friend, I only hope that you make the right decisions? Decisions that you have demanded will not be influenced by mere public opinion or Congressional opposition. Decisions that you made months ago, and decisions that merely (now) require a ?Preparing Of The Field?, and preparing the fields you are!

If this must be done, then by damned this time do it for the proper reasons, and do it completely! The public, right or wrong, will always stand firmly behind success, and I too am guilty of this moral fault.

In the meantime, however, ?DO NOT? saddle us with a U.S. version of the old ?Nazi Gestapo? in the guise of an ?All Powerful Homeland Security Force!? An agency that answers to no entity, save for the president and themselves! And while you are at it, ?RE-THINK OUR INVOLVEMENT IN THE UNITED NATIONS!!? We are not their private army or bank, and we have no need for foreign masters. A rose may be a rose, but the United Nations is still a corrupted New World Order, or a ONE WORLD
GOVERNMENT POLECAT, if you prefer! (one man?s opinion)

VERITAS
