![]() I'll agree with your assessment, with the understanding that LBJ was such an incredibly poor judge of character that he never should have picked or ratained Robert S. McNamara as SecDef. Between the two of them, 58,ooo names should never have been engraved in black granite.
The only thing that JFK had going for him was his looks and family connections. His WWII record is almost as banal as LBJ's; I mean, you really have to work hard to get your 45 mph PT boat cut in half by a 28 mph Japanese destroyer. And had it not been for the Chicago mob (gosh, it's almost deja vu all over again, isn't it?) he never would have been able to shack up with Marilyn Monroe in the White House.
