'Girls touched me then fleeced me' BARS in Batley have been blacklisted by a reveller who says he was robbed by teenage girls who kissed and fondled him to divert his attention. Richard Stones says he will be giving the town a wide berth after losing his wallet and £30 in cash at Brooklands on Bradford Road. And the divorcee warns other men: "Women touching men in bars are only after one thing – your money." Richard, who is 40 and from Mirfield, was out on the town with friends to celebrate his new job as a driver with First buses in Huddersfield. At around 10.30pm, they got to Brooklands where the group of girls were drinking heavily. "One blonde lifted her top to attract my attention and then fondled me in front of everyone," said Richard. "While another girl kissed me she went round the back and took my wallet from my pocket. "This was organised stuff. They boasted that they do it to a lot of people. I lost £30 in cash and it cost me £10 to cancel my cards. "I caught up with some of them but my wallet had disappeared. "You don't expect this sort of thing when you go out. I should have realised what they were after. People need to watch out. I fell into the trap. This is the first time anything like this has happened to me and I want others to be aware." Richard says he would recognise the girls if he saw them again. "I don't come to Batley much as it's not my scene, but a mate lives in the town and it's local for him," he said. "I certainly won't be going to Batley again after what happened. Two of the girls told me it is organised. They want cash to fund their binge drinking." John Hill, operations director for Brooklands and Frontier, insisted this was not commonplace. "This is the first I've heard of such a problem," he said. "We have not had any customers complaining." A spokesman for Batley police said: "We have received reports of a wallet theft at a bar on Bradford Road. Enquiries are ongoing and an officer from the neighbourhood policing team has arranged to take a statement from the victim." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ And let this be a lesson to all of us!
