We have about 200 Dell PC's where I work as an I.T. tech. The last time I called Dell support for a warranty repair issue I talked to a very American person. In fact, he used to live not far from my cabin in Wisconsin. It's been a few weeks since I called, so they may have moved and I'm not aware of it. If you are interested, the support number I use is 1 (800) 822-8965.
However, I agree that there is way too much of this offshore work being done. There are also too many foreigners coming here and taking our jobs. In the five years on this job, we have had two programmers from India working here as permanent employees, plus a few on temporary contracts. When the first one left, they hired another one. The reason is that they work all day, without complaining, and they do it right the first time. It's not just the money in some cases. |
