My memory maybe mislabeling the beach .It was the beach where we (Pine Island) joined an Army unit for our rec area using their equipent .There are some pictures of the Army guys that were building the base at that time . Also have some pix of crossing the equator . So far I havent managed to put a face with your name. I was in the Maa and M division. later

Suds,

I was on board her in late 1965/ and 1966 till decommissioned at bremington in 1966 upon return.

What is your name ?

I got on board in Japan. the ship had already left port for the Nam conflict. 15 days after boot camp they ordered me to fly to Seatac and catch the ship in Japan, and the rest is history.

First on board ship I was in the MAA for about four months, till I reached E3, then topside to the Aviation Department where I was in charge of the Logs of the planes. I had extra duties ( just like Radar ) like posting the duty roster and handing out the liberty passes.

My officer I had to report to was LTCMDR Brunnell. His first officer was LTJG Brand.

My last name at the time was Waters, then I got adopted at the age of 21 by my stepfather.

RU sure your not thinking of Bruckner Beach or was that Okinawa?

After leaving the ship and going to AZ school in Tenn, then to E&E school in Virginia I was shipped backed to Viet Nam in Cam Ranh Bay and Tan San Nhut. There ( besides a little trip to the phillipines for TAD) I stayed until discharge in 1969.

Have you still got your Cruise Book? I lost mine quite a few back and have been trying to find another one for the Pine Island AV-12 1965-1966.

If you have it look in the MAA section and you will see that I am there.

enough.........
