![]() Were these active duty Marines giving artillery instruction at Ft. Sill for US Army troops ? I wasn't aware this ever happened. Just curious. Thanks.

![]() All Artillery officers, Army or Marine, receive artillery training at Ft. Sill. Some of the Marine officers are assigned there as gunnery instructors. I guess so the Marine officer students wouldn't feel completely abandoned. Marine enlisted get artillery training from Marine Corps. There were 4 or 5 Marine officers in my Artillery Advanced Course.
PS: I am not aware of Marine officers giving artillery instruction to enlisted U S Army at Sill Only in Officer Candidate School, Field Artillery officer Basic and Field Artillery officer Advanced, ETC |

![]() Pho - As for the Marines, what you described still was in place in 96 when I left. Yes we would fire them at CPEX demos. Were we not aloud to fire the "wartime" rockets though, we only fire rockets with steel rods in the to get them up to weight. We would place three launches in front of Mo-Way House and fire to Quannah Range. I think I have a few launchers firing at night in my gallery, a truely spectaculor sight!
COL - go ugly early! Nothing like a snake eater to put things in perspective! As I was just a young redleg at the time, and a whole lot more single, this was pretty much the motto I lived by 24/7. Trav
