Democracy is in peril in America. We must not let 248 years of history go down in flames

The shooting and assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, had upended the already tumultuous 2024 presidential race for the White House.

A week later, President Joe Biden announced that he was ending his bid for re-election amid intense pressure from various Democratic leaders, sounding the alarm that his path to beat former President Donald Trump in November was fading.

The president's historic withdrawal threw the 2024 race, already roiled by an attempt on Donald Trump's life, put the presidential campaign into uncertain territory. Now, Vice President Kamala Harris, endorsed by President Biden, is heading the Democratic party’s place at the top of the ticket for the 2024 November election campaign.
Many Americans have taken democracy as an afterthought
I doubt if this change within the Democratic party will bring us together as a nation as party divisions and a lack of unity will continue to intensify.

As we recently celebrated our nation’s declaration of independence in 1776 from Britain’s king 248 years ago, many feel that America’s democracy could be at risk, along with the many liberties we cherish and take for granted.

There is a feeling of apprehension that warns about several failed democracies, notably Germany in the 1930s. Some would say the United States now faces a very real threat of becoming an autocracy, or a dictatorship.

Many in our country over the years have taken democracy as an afterthought. It has been assumed that someone else will ensure that democracy will be maintained by following the rule of law along with genuine and open discourse that keeps our society healthy and able to simply survive.

There are many Americans who feel there was nothing wrong or inappropriate in attacking the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, to overturn the results of the 2020 election by force. This is belief, is a fundamental threat to the long-term health of our basic democratic foundation.

I am optimistic U.S. will reach our 250th Independence Day anniversary

The NATO conference that was held in the United States during the week of July 7, convened at the most opportune time. As the threats to democracy intensify, NATO has turned its attention toward the impacts of internal threats to democracy in Europe and what can be done to foster greater democratic resilience.

It doesn’t seem controversial to say it feels as though today we are at a pivotal point in history. More than any time since the Cold War, democracy appears to be under attack, although those who oppose democracy today are far less recognizable than they were in the 20th century. Their tactics are more varied and more difficult to ascertain. It appears that some of the damage to our democratic institutions has taken on an internal status.

The Declaration of Independence was signed in July 1776, with the preamble: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

Cast your vote to honor the struggles of those who paved the way for your rights today

Although we have not been a perfect union and nor have, we always lived up to the ideals expressed in that preamble, hope springs eternal. I have always been a perpetual optimist and it is my sincere hope that in two years from now when we celebrate the 250-year anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, our democracy will be stronger and not on the verge of collapse. Time will tell.

HC there are many of us "who worry about our Democracy of our Country.

- It also seems that this applies [World-Wide] and the same is happening
to many Nations - and to this Waring seems to be "the word of the day!"

- Supreme Leadership is now world wide & has taken dictatorship to the extremes.

- Therefore the - People are secondary - if that?

- Their promises made during - their running for office within their Country's
are being manipulated - by those with large amounts of money.

- The minority & morality - is poor - and leads to the despondency of the multitude.

- Hence we are here today - because of the issues being spoken each day!

- We have to many supreme leaders and billions of Indian's (or natives)

- Humanity is secondary to the worlds Supreme Leader's of late.

- Our world has changed - or lets call it - morphed into a pattern of
neglective concern's - that are less prevalent to most societies today.

- We are "all" or lets say many - Nation's under God. Those that our governed
by a God-like Premi-Doma's - are using their principles of leadership; and/or
their Power's within their religious reasoning!

Late note: The pattern is noted and yet we seem to fall further
as the years going by. Pride needs to be shinned - heads need
to be held high - instead of being lowered.

Note: We the People are all [men & women] of God regardless of
race or our color and/or our verbiage.

Power to the People has been subsided - or neglected - and/or
found to be struggling - to form a more perfect union!

I speak these words because they are not spoken freely as they once were!
-
My Family history fought in many wars like so many before and after us!
We've seen death and we've seen the wounded - we who are left to ask
all these questions - that many don't anymore! Why! Unity works
when in the hands of those who've been their & done it; they lost their
family and friends to wars - all the way back the Civil War - and Indian
wars - add in the multitude of all wars since - and going thereafter!

Our political system is a broken record with divisive operations
and personal gains of late. [We The People] - or whatever happens
to us - and others; shows a bad pattern of humanity; compounded
be world-wide warfare - and leads to graveyards each day all around
the globe.

Last note: It's a piss-pore record isn't it! We hear it everyday!
