Default In rare public rebuke, Chief Justice Roberts slams Schumer’s threats as ‘dangerous’

By Tank Murdoch

(TNS) Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts issued a rare public rebuke of a sitting U.S. senator, Chuck Schumer, after the New York Democrat made a huge threat against two justices ahead of what will be their first abortion-related ruling next year.

This week, justices heard arguments over a Louisiana law that requires abortion doctors to be credentialed so they can have hospital privileges in order to care for their patients should there be a problem with the procedure.
The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the law last year as constitutional, but plaintiffs appealed and the high court agreed to hear the case.

In radical comments Wednesday before a crowd of abortion supporters — and really, the Left supports abortion-on-demand, at any stage of pregnancy, for any reason or no reason — Schumer threatened Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh would “pay a price” if they ruled in favor of the law.

In a word, BS. Schumer clearly directed his comments at the two Trump nominees, because Trump Derangement Syndrome is real and it literally destroys rationality and civility.

It was clearly a threat that ‘harm’ would come to them. And it was purposeful, such is the loathing Democrats have for the president and the sanctity of life.

Speaking of Trump, he responded to Sen. Schmuck forcefully and angrily.
This is a direct & dangerous threat to the U.S. Supreme Court by Schumer. If a Republican did this, he or she would be arrested, or impeached. Serious action MUST be taken NOW! https://t.co/WqQUbyzaJU

There can be few things worse in a civilized, law abiding nation, than a United States Senator openly, and for all to see and hear, threatening the Supreme Court or its Justices. This is what Chuck Schumer just did. He must pay a severe price for this!

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell plans to rebuke the minority leader on the floor of the chamber Thursday.

“Contrary to what the Democratic leader has tried to claim, he very clearly was not addressing Republican lawmakers or anybody else,” McConnell will say, according to excerpts of his remarks released ahead of the speech. “He literally directed the statement to the justices, by name. And he said, quote, ‘if you go forward with these awful decisions,’ which could only apply to the court itself. The minority leader of the United States Senate threatened two associate justices of the U.S. Supreme Court. Period.”

Constitutional law professor and liberal Jonathan Turley also found Schumer’s comments way over the top.
“Schumer’s threat to the Court that ‘you will pay the price’ is a direct attack on the integrity of our courts,” Turley said. “I criticized Trump for his reckless comments about the courts. Where is the chorus of condemnation of Schumer? Schumer sounded more like a stalker than a statesman.”

There has to be legal consequences for Sen. Schmuck. Someone in D.C. legal circles not named George Conway should get staffers busy researching ways to hold his guy accountable, then charge him*outside of the Left-wing bastion of D.C.

If this isn’t considered incitement to violence, then there is no such violation of the law.
