Since so much is made about: "The National Debt", and every president and government (that I know of anyway) has never done anything about it other than increase it,...just what exactly are, explains, or defines; "The National Debt"???

I don't think the ever increasing sale of United States bonds and treasury notes worldwide are really such a bad thing.
