Month raises awareness of cervical cancer

January is cervical cancer awareness month. Cervical cancer is the second most common cause of cancer in women with 500,000 new cases diagnosed annually worldwide. Most of these cases occur in developing countries, but in the United States, the number of new cases is 12,000 annually.
