![]() Have gone deer hunting once in 1972, the year after I returned from VN. I was on private ground with a specific post but got caught in a crossfire from neighboring hunters. I dug in for all I was worth and survived the hail of bullets from a******s who shouldn't have been in the area.
It was the worst I had experienced since I left VN. After that experience I sold my rifle and have never hunted again. I still have a couple of sidearms for personal protection, but in this area there are nothing but nuts in the woods.

![]() Last went hunting back in 1978 in Hanna, WY for antelope and later we went north of Steam Boat Springs, CO for Elk. zip on all above. Helped carry out an elk that was shot by another guy. Got buried in one hell of a snow storm took us 15 hours to get out. At my Dad's place in Idaho Springs, CO they shot the largest mule deer on record that year as well. I got zip again. What I hate is sitting there all morning looking down into a revene knowing the deer run through daily and then hearing several shots and no deer come out. They were picked off by other hunters several hundred feet from us and they got them first.
I recall all the adventures and now I just watch Bambi and friends just roam around out house and getting nailed by cars rather then hunters. My boss went to Alaska for bear and said he never wants to do that again. Did get a bear though and had it skinned and turned into a rug. That was expensive.
