Scenario: Jack pulls into school parking lot with rifle in gun rack.



1953 - Vice Principal comes over, takes a look at Jack's rifle, goes to his car and gets his to show Jack.

2006 - School goes into lockdown, FBI called, Jack hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.



Scenario: Johnny and Mark get into a fist fight after school.



1953 - Crowd gathers. Mark wins. Johnny and Mark shake hands and end up best friends. Nobody goes to jail, nobody arrested, nobody expelled.

2006 - Police called, SWAT team arrives, arrests Johnny and Mark. Charge them with assault, both expelled even though Johnny started it.

Scenario: Jeffrey won't be still in class, disrupts other students.

1953 - Jeffrey sent to office and given a good paddling by Principal. Sits still in class.

2006 - Jeffrey given huge doses of Ritalin. Becomes a zombie. School gets extra money from state because Jeffrey has a disability.

Scenario: Billy breaks a window in his father's car and his Dad gives him a whipping.



1953 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college, and becomes a successful businessman.

2006 - Billy's Dad is arrested for child abuse. Billy removed to foster care and joins a gang. Billy's sister is told by state psychologist that she remembers being abused herself and their Dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has affair with psychologist.

Scenario: Mark gets a headache and takes some headache medicine to school.



1953 - Mark shares headache medicine with Principal who has a headache also.

2006 - Police called, Mark expelled from school for drug violations. Car searched for drugs and weapons.

Scenario: Mary turns up pregnant.

1953 - 5 High School Boys leave town. Mary does her senior year at a special school for expectant mothers.

2006 - Middle School Counselor calls Planned Parenthood, who notifies the ACLU. Mary is driven to the next state over and gets an abortion without her parent's consent or knowledge. Mary given condoms and told to be more careful next time.

Scenario: Pedro fails high school English.

1953: Pedro goes to summer school, passes English, goes to college.

2006: Pedro's cause is taken up by state democratic party. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against state school system and Pedro's English teacher. English banned from core curriculum. Pedro given diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he can't speak English.

Scenario: Johnny takes apart leftover firecrackers from the 4th of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle, blows up a red ant bed.

1953 - Ants die.

2006 - BATF, Homeland Security, FBI called. Johnny charged with domestic terrorism, FBI investigates parents, siblings removed from home, computers confiscated, Johnny's Dad goes on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

Scenario: Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary, hugs him to comfort him.



1953 - In a short time Johnny feels better and goes on playing.

2006 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison.

Its to bad we live in a society that most of those things in the second part have to be done.

Jack goes to school now and kills 10 students and gets off on probation instead of being put to death.

Johnny and Mark fighting would end up them both expelled because people Lie about who started it so the school has to hand out discipline equally, Swat would have never been called and if did would not have showed up.

Billy could happen, thats pretty scary.

Mark has a headache and takes an aspirin, no problem, the trouble is that Mark now puts a drop of LSD on the aspirin and gives it to the principle. If High school kids parents were watching out for there kids there would be little Drugs in schools. Parents don't parent so kids use drugs.

Mary getting pregnant, well thats just part of nature. A condom is just a piece of the answer for unwanted pregnancy.

Pedro should be shot at the border and let his body fall back into Mexico

Johnny and his firework , FBI people are not that stupid, they have better things to do than give a shit if Johnny blows up ant's or himself, Now they may call the local Fire Marshall's office.

Johnny falls and gets hurt, The teacher may hug him, if thats all it is, then thats all it is. When she then puts her hand on Johnnys butt then it gets to be a law enforcement thing, Students and teachers have been getting together ever seance there have been students and teachers. Just now its not cool for a boy to have sex with a 30 year old, awhile back it was ok.

The more sophisticated a society becomes the less tolerant they are for EYE FOR AN EYE Justis. People want a happy ending to any tragedy, If someone murders someone they should be put to death, but our society thinks that putting the shooter in prison for 5 years and them letting that person back on the street is ok, And when the police are not there for victim Number two , then its the police fault. We live in a time where things are to easy because the weaker people instead of dieing off are helped and the public has to accommodate them (by laws) .

I guess the answer is to not make things so easy for people, Don't make automatic cars, don't put airbags in vehicles, Put a 6 inch spike in the middle of the steering wheel instead, that will slow people down or at least the ones that are left will slow down. Someone murders someone have a public execution (the next day) . Have gun towers on the border with infrared night vision and auto fire motion sensors. Go to the country where Coke is made and bomb the Coke plants, On and ON.

Being raised in rural Eastern Oregon, the story of the principle rings true. My guess is that those little high schools way out in the sticks still have the kids bringing the rifles to school during hunting season and no one thinks anything of it.

When we lived in Newport, WA (on the Idaho, Washington Border - 45 miles Northeast of Spokane, WA) I was in the Post Office one fine day in the middle of hunting season. Two little gentle came over to talk to me. They had British accents. I found out they were from England and touring the United States by car. They had landed in Seattle and were driving across the United States going East. One of the men said, "We noticed all the small trucks have guns hanging in the windows, We are wondering if it is safe to continue our trip across Idaho and Montana." I informed them that it was hunting season and they would be very safe driving across those states. I told them that no one would be out trying to rob them. In fact because everyone carries guns in those states it would be very unlikely if anyone would try a robbery. Guns can make for a safer enviroment. Hard concept for those Brits to understand where they have such strict gun control.

Doesn't sound like we progressed much at all. Here in Sacramento the schools have now stopped kids from palying touch football on the school grounds, or softball due to fear of being sued. Gezz what next. I remember playing Flag Football in Gym class, and playing softball also in Gym class.

Couple of years or so back, a 13 0r 14 year old kid was growing chili peppers to enter in a chili pepper contest to see who grew the biggest pepper. He decided to take one of them to school to show to his friends and one of the teachers saw the pepper and brought hin to the principal's office and he was suspended for three days for having a "lethal" object in his pocession.

Thanks Dennis , Back in the seventies most all of them were still the same as the Fifties in rural missouri but soon after 1985 even rural Missouri caught up with the rest of the country Those were the good ole days'
