Old Habits & A Happy Holiday!

The old saying: ?You can?t teach an old dog new tricks? certainly holds true in many arenas of life, and one has but to look at a few of today's foreign aggressors to observe the true wisdom in this statement. ?This remark is not meant to be an insult, but rather just an observation, as well as a sorry fact of modern-day existence!!?

The world seems to be spinning in an opposite direction these days, politically speaking - one akin to a century or two in the past?! And yet some in power insist on using the same old approach to each and every crisis, hour by hour, and day by day, and this has proven to be a totally ineffectual agenda (opinion), especially when dealing with practiced international liars! People who?s value of life is far less than it is in the free world, or people infused with generation after generation of hatred and mistrust! ?The only thing that seems never to change is the diplomat (him or herself)?, and that is unfortunate, as any change at all would be a welcomed improvement (opinion)!

?Diplomats and their masters usually start wars, whereas real people merely die in them!!?

With ?Homeland Security? now a fact of life, one can not help but wonder if we are moving toward the concept of ?Fortress Americana?, not that this is all that bad of an idea! (opinion) More attention to the needs and wants of this nation (and her true allies), and less attention to the ?Bleeding Hemorrhoids Of Other Hemispheres?, might be a novel approach, especially after attempting (in vane) to continually buy international friendships over the past six decades! At a cost I might add, that is staggering in finance, material and manpower!

This is of course, not to say that we need to be "Internationally Disengaged", as some spreading cancers refuse to be ignored or just go away! But we are not (and can not be) the ?Saint Bernard d? Terra Firma? (Policemen To The World) infinitum! ?Besides, sometimes a helping hand is not lovingly embraced, but rather bitten off at the knuckles!?

I just read where at least six people were arrested in ?France? (of all places) for planning terrorist activities aimed at that nation. Wassa-Matta Froggies?, were you not one of that group of wayward amigos who opted to resist a strike at the head of the cobra. Rather, you reasoned that a problem ignored, is a problem resolved!? (BULL TACOS!!)

If anyone thinks that by ignoring an insane beast, it will just go away, then how quickly they have forgotten the Europe and Asia of the late 30s! A display of conciliation or a rubber spined politico is sometimes viewed by a bully as sign of inherent weakness, and it will be attacked, and in some cases - assimilated by the beast!

?Do you not remember Kuwait in 1990, or Poland, Denmark, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Yugoslavia, Greece, and yes, even France, during World War II!?

And for the record, the Calvalry does not (and can not) always arrive in the knick of time! As a matter of fact, and again according to the media, a scant few of those people who?s "Rump-Roasts" we are helping to save at this very moment, are beginning (themselves) to rumble with anti-American Sentiment (You're Entirely Welcome Ingrates!) Do these people really believe that Hussein or bin Laden will not (eventually) target them too ?

?Are we (Coalition) winning the battles, while the enemy is winning the minds through fear, lies and misinformation?? Could it be that some people enjoy being brutalized, or that decades of war and pain have these poor unfortunates conditioned (brain-washed), and they genuinely fear a life of peace and relative tranquillity? Has hatred become all that they have left to fall back upon? One can, after all, but offer a hand of friendship and compassion - it is for the recipient to either accept it or slap it away!

And most of all, and on the domestic front, did you know that more U.S. Military Personnel die in car crashes than in actual combat, at least according to the media? So please, you guys and gals in uniform, "Buckle-Up, Drive Safely, Sanely and Soberly!" Only then can you continue to serve our nation with pride, honor and dedication! For were it not for you, and millions of other brave young American (and allies) in uniform, there would be no holidays to celebrate!

The Armed Services of the United States, along with her gallant Allies, continue to give the greatest of all Christmas gifts (FREEDOM), 365 days a year!! "This gift is paid for in blood, sweat and tears!!"
