It would be difficult to imagine military deployments having much effect at all upon domestic security given all the many and redundant security forces our government agencies have at federal, state, local and even private levels. Of course, the longer the war continues, and depending on how much americans end up paying to rebuild Iraq and maintain military presence there or elsewhere in the middle-east, and assuming our government does not find it necessary to"pre-emptively" start another war or wars somewhere else, and on the condition that Congress fully funds the Homeland Security mandates it has imposed upon the States, and our economy recovers fairly quickly (so that taxes get generated), and if replacement of military equipment losses in Iraq doesn't cost too much, and an unwise tax cut in time of war is defeated, and nothing else unexpected happens...then we should be fine.

Indirectly as the Arab world see's it as an invasion of an Arab/muslim country by infidials.
It will cause more hate and less security to people of the US (terrorist activity) but no threat to the country as a whole
