Operation Wolverine was designed to prevent organized anti-Iraqi force activities as well as deny AIF sanctuary in Ad Duluiyah. 1st Infantry Division's 1st Squadron, 4th Calvary Regiment detained 10 suspects at about 2:30AM on August 19, 2004 during a series of sweeps in and around Ad Duluiyah.

According to CENTCOM soldiers also confiscated three rifles, one shotgun, one AK-47 assault rifle, one pistol and several spools of copper wire. The detained suspects were transported to detention facilities for questioning.
