Operation Slim Shady (June 2004)

The 2nd Brigade of the 25th Infantry launched Operation Slim Shady in the city of Kirkuk. Operation Slim Shady was designed to cripple the resources of Muqtada al-Sadr's militia. The operation began in the first week of June and netted six individuals, five of which are cell leaders.

One of the individuals taken into custody was As'ad Abu Aws, the second in command of the militia in Kirkuk.
