Operation SETCON

Operation SETCON I in 1978 located and moved 1,702 chemical training sets from 18 sites around the world to Rocky Mountain Arsenal for demilitarization. Army Technical Escort Unit personnel escorted all convoys and airlifts and maintained custody of the sets from start to finish. The operation was completed without accident or incident in January-February 1978. Operation SETCON II followed in May-June 1980 and eliminated about 18,500 additional kits from 15 storage sites.
