First Infantry Division Soldiers from Task Force 82 conducted Operation Lanthonid near Baqubah early on Jan 9. The cordon and search was conducted to capture known anti-Iraqi forces operating in the area. Nine targeted AIF members were detained along with two other suspected AIF members. During the operation, a weapons cache of three RPG launchers, 10 RPG rounds, 10 60 mm mortar rounds, one 155 mm round, one 125 mm mortar round, a mortar system, two hand grenades, one RPG sight, two bags of 7.62 mm ammo and a block of TNT. The detainees were taken to a military detention facility.
