Operation Dallas was launched on October 29, 2004 by U.S. troops and Iraqi National Guard Forces. The operation was designed to increase security in Mosul by performing cordon and knocks throughout the community. In this joint operation the Iraqi National Guard were supported by 1st Battalion 24 Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade 25th Infantry Division.
