Operation Disarm is a 1st Cavalry Division program that began on or about May 19, 2004. The program uses funds earmarked for tips leading to the capture of insurgents or illegal weapons and offers up to $500 per weapon, depending on type. Included in the final tally were more than 80 AK-47 rifles, mortars, mines and grenades.
