Marine Corps All the Way.......
Always wanted to be a Marine, so I joined the Marine Corps Reserve the summer before my senior year. Went active the following summer and came back to the Philadelphia area 16 years later.
Where I 've Been..........
Of course, Boot Camp at Parris Island, S.C., Went to Marine Corps Schools at MCRD San Diego, Ca., Trained as a Telephone/Teletype Technician. Then to Camp Pendleton, Ca., with the 1stMarDiv. In 1963 was station at MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. One of my favorite duty stations, spent 2 years there. STD at Quantico, Va was next. Reenlisted and spent the next 2 years in Worcester, Mass , I & I Staff. Finally after 8 years in the Corps was sent to Okinawa, 3rdFSR. From there was transfered to FLSG-B/FLC at Dong Ha, RVN. After Nam, Marine Corps was nice to me, I was stationed in Philly(home) at MCAS. Back to Okinawa after 2 years, again with 3rd FSR. Than to Camp Lejeune, N. C. with 8thComBn. Spent 5 years there, felt it was time to move on.
Life After Active Duty......
Met my wife Ellie after I got out. Went back to school, refresher courses on electronics and than Computers. Have been a Field Service Technician since finishing school. We have four grown children, 2 boys and 2 girls. Ellie and I are proud of our children and how they have grown into adulthood.
The saying "Once A Marine.......Always A Marine" is how I live my life today.
Semper Fi,
Roger aka The Drifter
