Talking college for dependents

I hope our government will do as good as new york did for the victims of the Iraqie war. new york is making sure every dependent of the twin towers gets a free college education . Can't we at least do the same for our armed forces. Iam sure they probely make less then the lowest paid custodion but they put their lifes on the line when called they deserve to know we will take care of their kids.

It seems we honor victims more than heroes. I take nothing away from those that lost family on 9-11. It is just the asymmetry is obvious. Some of these soldier's families are in financial trouble. There was something on the news about having a law passed so no soldier's family can be evicted from their homes. Their needs are much more basic.

Doc Fred...right on target. We have soldiers and saliors on food stamps, let's address that before we worry about college.

Wish I could be shown to be wrong, but it seems to me that the people of this country have little appriciation of,or respect for, members of the armed forces between wars and a big chunk of the pop. can't even generate much DURING a war.Soon as the last shot is fired the militarey is out of sight and out of mind, and the watchword returns to: "What have you done for me lately?"

I am reminded of a poem my Father sent to me when I was in the Desert in 91. I have posted it before but will again on this thread.

God and Soldiers we adore
In times of danger and not before
When dangers passed and all things righted
God's forgotten and the Soldier's slighted.

That was written over 400 years ago during the Marlborough campaigns.

Hey John,

Is that really you? I bet it is Lil Lt doing for you? Like you said she is just like my TJ always there when Daddy needs her, just like TJ was here when his Daddy & Mom needed him. God bless you Lil Lt for being there for you Dad.

God bless you all, just know we are praying for all of you. and with God all things are possible. God will be there with you tomorrow during your surgery John.

God bless,

Annette
