TIKRIT, Iraq - Iraqi Shiites, oppressed by Saddam Hussein, welcomed the hanging of two of his aides on Monday though some also joined Sunni Arabs in expressing shock that his half-brother?s head was ripped off by the noose.

For a Country so adept at killing in so many ways for so long, I?m surprised there was a decapitation with the hanging process.
In theory, the weight of the one to be executed is used to set the length of the rope drop. Too short and it?s a strangulation, too long and it?s a decapitation. Could be that the hangman didn?t know how to go about things and possibly the one who lost his head was a tad or a bunch overweight.

Lots of similar botched hangings in the "wild west" days and in the aftermath of Nuremburg as well.

The only ones complaining should be the workers having to clean up the blood.
It just means he died fast. I don't get the complaints. The Arabs often use decapitation by sword for execution. Just a bunch of non-sense those complaints.
Whether I ring a chicken's neck or chop it off it is still dead. A bunch to do about nothing.

The only thing I wish is that they would put it on TV.
CNN can put on TV one of our guys being shot, why can't they put one of the terds guys being hung.

I was watching The Real West on the History Channel, and they talked about a similar hanging. Seems this outlaw got caught but they had to wait for the circuit judge to make his rounds. In the meantime, the guy put on about 50+ pounds because the sherrif's wife was such a good cook. The professional hangman had been notified of the capture and was told the guy weighed about 170#. Of course, when time for the execution arrived, he weighed well over 200#, but still thinking of the original 170, the hangman figured on a longer drop. When the trap door was let go, the outlaw dropped much further than was necessary and "POP"!

Then you pick up the body and the head and put them both in the casket, and drive off. Big deal, What did the guy do to get hung? Thats who I would feel for.
