Under Seige?

?Fort Benning, Georgia, a name known world wide for the high caliber of troops it turns out, recently came under siege again! No, it wasn?t a blue-coated force under the command of General Billy T. Sherman, but rather (according to the media) by an onslaught of better than 6000 protesters, among which were six hardcore nuns, armed to the teeth with crosses and guts!

The object of this massed protest was not equal rights, or even southern pride, but rather the training of ?Latin American Combatants? at that facility! That and the murder back in 1989 of six priests in El Salvador by troops (reportedly) trained by U.S. forces?! And to quote one of the six nuns arrested for their participation in this Fort Benning protest: ?We feel anger over the deliberate teaching of violence!?

Military violence can be a nasty thing, granted, but would these protesters have felt better if, instead of training foreign troops to protect their own interests and country, we had instead sent in our own kids to fight someone else?s regional war (I know the UN would love this)!!

I did, however, somewhat relish the final solution to this civil unrest, arrived at by the Major General in command of this U.S. Base. This eloquent two star commander, first applauded the gallant little band of protesting nuns, stating , and I partially quote: ?This protest represented America at it?s finest!? He quickly followed up this compliment by having all six of the scalawags (nuns) arrested! ?IS NOTHING SACRED??
