November is Military Family Appreciation Month

JACKSONVILLE,Fla. (NNS) -- "Military Families
Appreciation Month" will be recognized in November. Military
families will be applauded for their outstanding service,
selflessness and commitment to our active duty forces.

"During Military Families Appreciation Month, we pay special
tribute to the many contributions that military families make to
their own communities and mission readiness," said Dr. Gwen
Taylor, head of the Child Development Section for Navy
Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR).

"For Sailors to be successful in their careers and meet their
mission, it's incredibly important for them to have a family
support system in place to deal with frequent moves and family
separations," Taylor explained.

Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville's MWR has many exciting
activities planned throughout the month. NAS Jax Freedom
Lanes will offer $1.75 per game bowling and $1.65 shoe rental
every Tuesday night. The Outdoor Recreation Center is offering
a 10 percent discount on all camping gear throughout the month
of November.

Youth Activities Center (YAC) will sponsor a military family
appreciation carnival at the YAC building Nov. 15 from 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m.

The base movie theater will show movies for free at various
times throughout the month. Check the movie listings for more
details.

Thanks for Posting this Joy I live just about 90 miles from JAX NAS .This coming weekend me and the Wife are going to Moody AFB for the Annual Retiree Apreciation Day . They just got a new Base Commander this year and it will be interesting to see how the new CO is running Moody now
