Life by the lake
Just got back from the geography lesson. Buffalo by the lake. Now I understand about the lake snow. I guess you've seen your fair share of tourists as well. Niagara Falls being so close. Wait till the weather warms up. I'll bring the boat over and we'll have shrimps on the barbie and a nice dry red crusing the lake. Not oo polluted is it? I'll send a PM re my Thorn Birds landscape

Minimal polution now, but a strange infestation of zebra mussels! Too bad they're not big enough to eat.
Come on down...a boat trip would be nice!

The Coach had put together the perfect team for the Chicago Bears. The only thing that was missing was a good quarterback. He had scouted all the colleges, and even the high schools, but he couldn't find a ringer quarterback who could ensure a Super Bowl win.
Then one night, while watching CNN, he saw a war-zone scene in Afghanistan. In one corner of the background, he spotted a young anti-Taliban, Afghan soldier with a truly incredible arm. He threw a hand grenade straight into a 15th-story window 200 yards away, ka-boom! He threw another hand grenade into a group of 10 soldiers 100 yards away, ka-blooey! Then a car passed, going 90 mph, bulls-eye! "I've got to get this guy!" Coach said to himself. "He has the perfect arm!" So, he brings him to the States and teaches him the great game of football, and the Bears go on to win the Super Bowl. The young Afghan is hailed as the Great Hero of football, and when Coach asks him what he wants, all the young man wants to do is to call his mother. "Mom," he says into the phone, "I just won the Super Bowl!" "I don't want to talk to you," the old woman says. "You deserted us. You are not my son." "I don't think you understand, Mother!" the young man pleads. "I just won the greatest sporting event in the world. I'm here among thousands of my adoring fans." "No, let me tell you," his mother retorts. "At this very moment, there are gunshots all around us. The neighborhood is a pile of rubble. Your two brothers were beaten within an inch of their lives last week, and this week your sister was raped in broad daylight." The old lady pauses, and then tearfully says, ".. I'll never forgive you for making us move to Chicago."

Fine way to talk 'bout the windy city, Jane..especially from one living in the refrigerator. Grew up in Western PA & used to go to Buffalo once in a while (back then it was legal to drink in NY @ 18.
Just couldn't figure out much to say nice 'bout the city..seemed like I was always cold there, even in summer. But, the story you told 'bout the quarterback could be told with more accuracy about St. Louis (I live in the 'burbs)..see, we actually have won a Super Bowl (didn't use an Afgan QB, just a grocery shelf stocker) Joe

You know, a job inthe Buffalo Chamber of Commerce would be just right for you!
Watching the Bills home games this year, I noticed for another year about all they show of the area is Niagara Falls. That's not even Bflo. Not much to show here, unless they came to my house! I kinda like Cleveland. (And am NOT a Bills fan, 49ers I love.)
