Default HC and others you will enjoy this one.

Thought you’d enjoy this.

The following is the 2007 winning entry from an annual contest at Texas
A&M University calling for the most appropriate definition of a
contemporary term.

This year's term was: Political Correctness

The winner wrote:

'Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical
minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which
holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a
turd by the clean end.'

BEAUTIFULLY DEFINED!

Default Boats,....

Was ALMOST The Perfect Definition of P-C and/or the epitome of an oxymoron.
Believe that adding the word: "Orally" to the end of: "......possible to
pick up a turd by the clean end"
,...and now we're talking PERFECTION!

Besides, it's only fair that those espousing such get a taste of their very own crap.
Don't you think?

Default Yep

It's amazing how the literary folks can use the American diction and execute it into some wonderful. It's better than swearing in old colorful Naval verbiage often used by this person - more than once.

Didn't someone here recently post an Aggie joke? Sounds like they've got some pretty smart people at Texas A&M.

Default Boats,....

Know exactly what you mean about: "Swearing" in The Service.

While sitting with 3 three other Scouts at a table in our Company or Troop Mess Hall,
we once counted-up just how many foul words were used during our typical conversations.
If memory serves correctly, the count even surprised us.
Amazingly, it came to every FOURTH word uttered of never ending chatter!

Thus, such why we all shared one major concern and/or how we would speak when going
home on leave or discharge,...at the diner table. Was commonly feared that would just
automatically say words like: "Pass the f--kin butter".

Still Boats, what's with this: "Literary folks" bit for this H.S. Grad?
Don't know whether to consider such a Compliment or an Insult??

Default Surprising

Neil - I've been there.

Having grown up in the streets I've been exposed to the ocean of filth that is on the streets - but in my house - its forbidden. My entire family knows this. When I'm not around I bet they use it - but they know how I feel about gutter like street talk.

I've always told them I know the words and "yes" I've used them - but never in front of women, family or friends. I've stressed to them that using that language only means you have a poor education and that the dictionary is full of words that will allow them to express the same feelings and leave those other dirt bags wondering what you just said.

In the service or with others I've always tried to be somewhat careful when it comes to diction issues. I know the words and I've used them - but only in extreme anger and then when pushed to that level - it usually results in going to blows.

I was never impressed by poor verbiage. You guys here have always been in good taste in most cases and have impressed me with your words of wisdom. I can only say that the more we use the this practice the more it will lessen the filth that many of us had to grow up listening to.

Boats,

I agree with what you say totally. A lot of us, I guess, have room for improvment in our language.

But lemmee tell ya something...

When you're hanging under a parachute canopy, and you're looking up at a hole big enough to walk through, somehow "Oh, Fudge!" just doesn't fill the bill.

Your current surroundings can influence your sudden urge to change your language skills.
