Took my daughter to the rifle range
Me and her went to the range. She shot a few rounds. and then she shot for a final zero of the scope. She put 3 bullets on target that a dime could cover and we set her final wind age and elevation of her scope. The deer are in real trouble come November 1 2008.
My 444 on the other hand , knocked down the rails holding the targets. And the range officials were not happy. Ron |

The 444 Marlin
Quite a cartridge. Big enough for almost anything.
The 444 Marlin can push a 240 grain bullet at 2,350 ft/s generating 3,070 ft·lbf of energy. 150 yards and under it is a pretty powerful cartridge. The 30-06 can push a 220 gr 2,400 ft/s 2,850 ft-lbf of energy. However the 444 Marlin drops energy and trajectory almost twice as fast as the 30-06. The 444 Marlin should be a great cartridge for anything under 150 yards on anything from Black Bear and Elk on down. It would be a little over kill for rabbits. Keith |

I have been using a 444 for about 20 years . Under 100 yards it's great, I don't shoot out passed that.
My daughter got a 243, 100 grain core lock. She likes it. Ron |

.243 is a great caliber for women and young people because it dosen't kick as much as a .444 or even a .308 smart choise. send pictures of the deer she shoots. remember you can't eat the antlers but some times they are cool to look at.

I don't hunt antlers, She can if she likes. I'll have to skin it anyway. At least the first one.
When we went to the range I took my gun. After shooting it a few times I asked her if she would like to shoot it , a grin, smerk and NO. Smart kid. Ron Last edited by 39mto39g; 10-13-2008 at 02:56 AM. |

My Brother Had a 444 Marlin.
He had a custom rifle. It was a bolt action chambered for the 444 Marlin. It also had a three to nine power scope. He used it for hunting in the Southern Coast of Oregon. He loved it.
I've never fired one. Keith |

I like the 444 because you don't have to track the deer anywhere. It's right were you shot it.
