Yup!

Projected track right now puts landfall between Morgan City, Louisiana and Apalachicola, Florida.

Mobile is about in the center of that span.

I'm 104 miles east of Mobile...well within the projected landfall.

I sure wish I knew what the water surface temps are in the Gulf.
Those temps will determine, to a great degree, how much Arlene will intensify.

This storm is "lopsided"...most of the rain is in the northeast quadrant. If it makes landfall to my west...Pensacola, Mobile, etc...I gonna get very wet!

You folks just north of me...around Atlanta...get ready for a soakin'!!!

Send some rain here. We have had unseasonably hot weather. High 80's and low 90's. It also seems odd that a tropical storm hits there this early in the hurricane season. True?

Yup!!

Odds favor a QUIET June.

There's a ditty about hurricanes that says "June too soon." The cooler Atlantic waters in late spring and early summer tend to make it true.

Since 1851, Florida has seen six June hurricanes. The last of those was Agnes in 1972, a Category 1 storm that did little damage in Florida but drenched the northeastern U.S., causing record flooding and killing more than 120 people.

Hurricane Alma swept past Sarasota on June 9, 1966, on its way to landfall in the Panhandle. En route, it spawned heavy rains and strong winds, leaving $10 million in damage and killing six people across the state.

I believe Agnes was the one that put the Susquahanna River over it's banks and flooded second floors of businesses that would never have seen a drop at all. If you're familiar with Corning glass company, They had water in the second floor. There is a mark on the wall, that indicates the water level in the building, for history purposes.

I have pictures of the aftermath of hurricane Andrew as I drove from the Keys (Islamorada) back to the mainland, a day after it went through. (NEVER AGAIN!)

One interesting bit of info about Agnes...

Agnes is, to date, the LARGEST hurricane on record - almost 1,000 miles in diameter.

While Agnes' east side rain bands were crossing Tampa, Florida, her west side rain bands were crossing Corpus Christi, Texas.

Post Not much wind in this storm.

Projected Winds of 45 - 50 mph. Not much wind. We have had 50 mph winds all day today here in Windy Ellensburg.

But, lots of rain with this storm.

Get some umbrellas quick.

Keith
