Default Hurricane Claudette

Well, Hurricane Claudette is now bearing down on the Texas coast, between Corpus Christi and Galveston. I've been through several of these storms and none of them are any good. Luckily, I live on the far NW side of the ouston area and so shouldn't be in any flooding or other damage area. However, the phone services (and thus the internet services) may be effected by the heavy rain and winds, so those of us in the Houston and other affected areas may be off-line for a while.

Ron (39Mto39N), I know you live and work in a low-lying area. I hope you don't experience any flooding or other damage. Be careful out there today. I see on the news that several fire teams are being called upon for evacuation and rescue services.

Sgt_Tropo,
Can you send it a little further south? My aunt lives in the Woodlands and my parents live on 59 in Splendora. I'll be heading over there on thursday and I don't need a mess when I get there.

Default Ditto to Ron

Return to base. ASAP!
Up here in the Hill Country, we're starting to feel the wind effects of Claudette, with mucho rain on the way, according to the local Doppler radar. We can generally always use some water, but the routine is too often "feast or famine" with the too much running off the rocky hillsides. Anywho, last time I checked, my Higher Power didn't ask for my assistance with the weather......
Scouts Out!!

PS to any of you flatlanders down near the coast: pm me for directions to my humble abode, if you need sanctuary.

You're not going to air weather school, by any chance, are you? No, the hurricane will be long gone by the time your friendly DI (do the Bus Drivers really have DI's) greets you warmly with a glass of fresh lemonade and some cookies. If and when you get a weekend pass, avoid the river walk in SA!

Default Hey Super

I know we don't see "eye to eye" on a lot of "stuff" and we have continually been at each others "throats" for a long time now. But------here's praying and hoping you and yours, and all your Texas friends come out of this thing OK.

BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES & KEEP YOUR FEET DRY MY FRIEND!

SGT Tropo,

I hope that you didnt get to much if any damage.

You said you live NW of Houston and that is where they (media) showed it goning.

If your PC or lines are down, these should be waiting on you when it comes back up.

Looks as if we will see some "sprinkles" out of it.

Good Luck My Cyber Friend and May the Lord be with you and your family and friends.

enough..............

Default Well

hurricane Claudette came and went without too much of a bother. We got about an inch or 1 1/2 inches of rain where I'm at, but hardly any wind at all. I guess the storm stayed south of my location. I understand the Sugar Land area (Ron's AO) got quite abit more of the rain and wind, but still nothing as much as the weathermen were predicting. as a matter of fact, a good ol' Texas summertime thunderstorm usually brings more wind and rain, so I guess the Good Lord was indeed watching out for us.
My wife also works in the Sugar Land area and reported that the storm appeared to be just a good ol' thunderstorm, but not much in the way of damaging wind or terribly excessive rain. Even Galveston Island reported more damage from house fires and power outages than from rain or wind.
