Fenway Park, Boston, MA / 1912-present day / still going strong; unlike certain stadiums in the Bronx.

Yankee's....gotta love em'....gotta hate them.
For once I don't mean that race of people that live above the Mason-Dixie line.
Having been born in Virginia I was a die hard Senator fan. The Yankee's were always a nemesis but as a ball player I loved Mantle, Maris, Berra, (who I met later and was a friend of his son, Dale), Ford and all the rest. When my father sold his gas station and went with the company, Atlantic which eventually became ARCO, we had to move. The company was a huge sponser of the Pgh Pirates and had season tickets. Dad would take me to the games and I became a huge Pirate fan and eventually got to play, sort of, for them. (20 days but never in a game) My father was at game 7, 1960 World Series, when Billy Maz hit the shot heard round the world and ended Yankee dominance, at least for that year. My Senators ended up leaving DC so I stayed with the Pirates and the Braves once they moved to Atlanta. I hate seeing Yankee Stadium going away. The history there is unreal in the annals of baseball. Close is Fenway and Wrigley....but you have to admit that there was magic in the Bronx. Well....go Cubbies! You and the Bo-Sox are the only ones left with cool stadiums. I will miss Yankee Stadium even though I never got to see a game there. Did get to Fenway....what a cool place that is. Pack

I'll always be a Bosox fan.
But today, I will pause to pay tribute to this stadium, its history, and its passing. Today, I will honor this place where baseball legends were made. Steve
