With all of this hype over international border cooperation oozing out of DC and Mexico City, the facts of the matter often sing a far different tune!?

One classic example, and only one, of this so-called new age of ?South of The Border Glasnost? has surfaced in ?Nuevo Laredo, Mexico?, a booming border city of more than 400,000 souls! It would appear that El Presidente - Vicente Fox of Mexico, has his hands full in this (and other) Mexican population centers!

The mainstay of "Mexican Border Enforcement" (it?s police forces), has seen some 80 cops recently fired in this one enclave alone, for failing to pass a screening process that was begun after a dramatic, wild-western style shootout! The problem is that - this ?Showdown At The OK Coral - South of the Border Style?, was between federal cops and the local cops! (WOW!)

Now add to this the fact that yet another 70 officers may also lose their frijoles y cerveza (bean and beer) money before this mess is over, and that means that these law-enforcement agencies may soon be hurting for manpower!

The shootout itself occurred when some 41-city police officers engaged federal agents dressed in civilian clothing (during the fracas, one federal officer was critically wounded!) And as a direct result of this ?Wild West Style Shootout?, the City Cops were pulled off of the streets in order to allow the Feds to investigate corruption within the local police force! ?Corruption in Mexico - naw!??

So there you have it - not only have these ?South of the Border Gunslingers? made the occasional incursions into our country (USA), apparently, they can not even (sometimes) get along with their own compadres!

?Yeah man, and this is the kind of cooperation that is going to cure all of those border ills??

The warring is about which set of crooks are going to be in charge of the corruption and presently Vicente?s Federalies have more banditos, pistolaros and bigger pistolas so Vicente wins, by definition. Hell, we can find the exact same scenario in any major US city except the warring is between gangs like the Crips and Bloods, etc, on and on.

Never mind that the real root cause is the insatiable Gringo appetite for dope. To admit that would fly in the face of the Moral Relativity? cause and pitch a bucket of cold water all over a big segment of the lucrative and red-hot ?conspiracy theory' business.
After all Pablo Escobar, et.al, were blood brothers and sworn Bush family members, right?
