Thumbs down Feces Stew Anyone?

QUOTE CNN - New York:

"Some passenger and crew members on at least two cruise ships recently have suffered from a gastrointestinal illness caused by Norwalk Virus, and this virus is also suspected of an outbreak on a third ship."

Man, don?t we live in an age of wonder and enlightenment! Here we are, fully engulfed in space science and technology galore, conquering diseases left and right, but the more that we achieve, the more evil inevitably slithers forth from ?Pandora?s Filthy Box? (no anatomical pun intended)!

We beat the hell out of TB, but we then acquire Legionnaires Disease! Polio all but bites the dust, and out pops Hanta Virus, the Lime and Rocky Mountain Spotted Tick, and what the hell ever else have you. And just when we start to get a grip on most of those nasty little bugs, the AIDS virus threatens to do in a vast portion of Planet Earth!

Getting back to this dirty (literally) little ?Norwalk Virus?, back during the ?American Civil War?, or ?War Between The States? if y?all prefer, killer infections caused by the filth-ridden operating rooms of that era, caused many a preventable death. The ?Wee Little Germ? was virtually unknown to these doctors, and as such, it was allowed to fester and get passed on to one patient right after another!

Well, Sir Joe Lister, 1827-1912 (and others) began to tout the blessings of disinfectants and medical hygiene (antiseptic surgery), and as such, many a man (and woman), cured of a disease, injury or wound, didn?t have to expire later from infection, brought on as a result of those nasty little bugs that hang around the operating table!

So there you have it, a germ-free existence thanks to modern medicine, right? Well, don?t jump for joy just yet, as this Norwalk Virus seems to have eluded (even) some within the sciences!

It seems that a CNN Medical Correspondent has related that about 181,000 cases a year of Norwalk Virus pop up even here within the affluent (?) U.S. of A.!? I am indeed surprised that Army Research and the CIA (ref: MK ULTRA) hasn?t gotten in on the act. ?An opportunity missed perhaps?? So unless you hanker for a bout with the ?Boiling Pukes?, and the ?Drizzling Droppings? etc, this CNN Medicine man has suggested the obvious -

A. Don?t share food, water or eating utensils

B. Avoid confined environments (there goes the old DC Bordellos)

C. Do not drink or eat contaminated foods or beverages, and of course -

D. Wash your damned hands properly and often, no matter who in the hell you are. (Remember Old Joseph Lister?)

Hey, while we are on a roll, I got another question or two for you! If this Norwalk Virus has been visiting a few posh and extremely expensive cruise ships of late, is the Navy dealing with the potentiality of just such a mass-infection aboard military ships. ?A sick crewman is a potentially infectious and ineffective crewman, is he (or she) not?!?

And for the record, ?IF? [as that CNN Medico claims], this virus (Norwalk) is readily passed on through feces left upon human hands after one does his (or her) business, are we to assume that the sanitation conditions aboard some luxury vessels leave something to be desired (Just a question)?

So what do we call this new butt and gut busting virus? Down here along the border, we occasionally see a condition called ?Montezuma?s Revenge?, caused I am told, by drinking or cooking in contaminated water. Now with even a famous cruise line recently affected, maybe we could call this one ?Mickey?s Malady, Captain Kidd?s Crud, or a case of the Saddam Shits!?? (In other words, lay off of the Camel Burgers while engaged in Desert Storm II boys and girls!!)
