CNN Late Edition Sunday Wolfe Blitzer

Intentional or unintentional, to delay elections would be to allow a hostile power to dictate U.S. life and policy.

Years ago (1995), I wrote and copyrighted novel entitled "Civilution (unpublished). In effect, almost a decade ago, I warned of super agencies (as did Orwell - 1984). Agencies of absolute power that weaken the soverenty of our nation and vastly multiply the unaccountability of the expanding powers that be!

This dangerous move into a darkness of regression, would, in my opinion, weaken the inalienable rights of the people themselves!

Indeed, harsh times do require harsh measures, but those (so-called) measures must never butcher the balance of power or the intent of the Founders!

Does anyone really believe that any vast power structure can be satiated by giving up but a single right - tell that to Chamberlain and England (circa - 1939).

Now that we are the lone super power, are we destined to become that which we have fought against for 229 years?

No one can dispute that these are dangerous times, but a liberty, right, and mandate surrendered, often becomes a liberty, right and mandate forever lost!!

Right On Bro!!!!

It is just a matter of a few elements of government testing the waters to see how much they can get away with!!!!! The Old Give Me An Inch And I'll Take A Mile Scenario!!! One that both parties gleefully engage in!!!!! The bottom word to a few is "Power at any cost!"

HC,

That's kind of a frightening scenario. I wouldn't put it past the present administration, in the event of a terrorist attack, to either postpone or ouright cancel the elections and declare martial law.

Other countries may be removing troops from commitments in another land because one of their people is held hostage by those that the country has committed to oppose. Those countries listen to the enemy, follow the enemies instruction, raise their hands and surrender to that enemy. America won't do it. We are a world power because of one thing. Henry Ford said it. "Find out what is right. Then do it."

Eric Blair (George Orwell) once pondered (theoretically of course) such thoughts in his famous novel 1984! Lord knows, no one back in the late 1940's took it literally at the time!

Unfortunately, if one has been keeping a score card over the past few decades, they would have noted that things have indeed changed, and not always for the better!

Who could have imagined in the mid 40s that our two mortal enemies of that time would rise to rival us economically? Or that the world would begin to align itself in camps (NAFTA, European Common Market etc), or that Asia would make demands (economically and militarily), or that we would pay tribute to nations of violent intent to keep them satiated? And in all too many cases, natural born citizens have become second class citizens in our own nation!

And how about delaying, or even placing an eternal moratorium, upon elections for one reason (excuse) or another - bottom line - ABSOLUTE POWER!

And let us never forget the unification of law enforcement under a single (federally controlled) banner, or the cessation of certain rights, temporarily (?) of course!

Like the repeal of prohibition, I firmly believe that some of what is now being done will also be repealed in the future, if the New World Order allows us to do so that is? Any right surrendered is a right not easily regained, in my opinion!

Getting back to these feelers being cleverly put forth by government, are some testing the waters! Are these changes, like the Federal Income Tax, but temporary, or are they here to stay! Worse yet, are they merely another step toward Internationalism or a police state, controlled by outside forces?

What ever happened to the Monroe Doctrine, the Declaration of Independence, and portions of our Constitution? Have they too gone in the direction of the Dodo Bird, Truth and Integrity? And who can change this slide into a potential oblivion?

Will we too end up an "Also Ran", like the USSR, the once mighty British Empire, Rome or the Ancient Greeks? They too, once thought themselves immuned from social and economic catastrophe!?
