It was reported that the 173 was making some frequent contacts north of Dak To. "They" wanted us to patrol more west and north to overlap 173 grid. Each time we went out we found more and more evidence of large troop movements (NVA) in the area. Fresh dug latrines and blood bandages, many many tracks (shoe)
Each time we would run across one of these spots we would call for an interpreter and a spook, (someone who I have no idea who he was) They would dig around looking at the NVA leftovers and mumble to each other. We and they would leave and they would call in arty on that spot about an hour after we left? I have no Idea why. Ron |
