(Independence-AP) -- It took nearly 40 years, but Buchanan County
Sheriff Leonard Davis has been honored for his service in Vietnam.

Davis received several medals he earned as a rifleman in the Marine
Corps during a ceremony in Independence last week, including the
presidential unit citation with a bronze star.
