Ugly, that?s what it is, ugly. Not a proper ship at all, just ugly. I think it is the conceptual prototype next version of the stealth rigged Aegis type Cruiser or something along those lines.
But I?ll stick with ugly, damn ugly. Looks too much like the F 117, the ugliest bird ever to fly aside from a flying rat seagull.

Default DDX

On April 29, the Navy announced the selection of Ingalls Shipbuilding and Northrop-Grumman Ship Systems for the $2.9 billion three-year contract to design, build and test the next-generation surface ship.

DDX will be armed with an advanced gun system that can strike targets from 100 miles away and a peripheral vertical launch system that can launch Sea Sparrow and Standard anti-aircraft missiles as well as Tomahawk land-attack missiles. The CNO said the DDX will also be stealthy with "a cross section smaller than a fishing boat and quieter than submarine in terms of signature."

"A commander's job is to always try to maximize the advantage and minimize the advantages of the other guy. That's what warfare has always been about," Clark said. "It is about bringing technology to bear that a potential enemy does not know how to deal with. That's what we're talking about here in DDX)."

Clark added that Task Force EXCEL (Excellence through Education and Learning) is the key to effectively training the smaller, highly versatile crews that will sail on DDX, CGX and LCS in the future.

If I was Young, and wanted to be in the Navy, This is where I would be.
