Scamp,
The F117 is the first plane with true character since Lockheed came out with the C5 in the 1960's. All the other planes are just like the cars of the 70's and 80's...cookie cutter manufacturing...much like Tract Housing. How can you find your house when they all look alike??? The "baby black bird" (the blackbird being the sleak lady SR71) is a very delicate little bird with the attitude of an Eagle. She is amazing to watch on her silent wings but her talons are sharp as daggers and her anger strikes quickly. F117 ugly? HELL NO! (I worked on her support team at Tonopah between the time she was under the Skunk works and before she moved to New Mexico) The day the squadron returned home from the first Gulf War was phenomenal! I was on the front line and they lined up and parked wing to wing. I could reach out and touch her nose. I was so full of pride that day that those sandstorms were kicking up something fierce!
