Angry PROTESTOR in Navy uniform

This past weekend there was a big protest rally in San Francisco.(imagine that) Well in the Sunday newspaper on the front page was a picture of a navy petty officer in uniform with a small American flag taped across his mouth marching in this protest rally! The caption stated: "Petty Officer Jason MacDougall marches in protest rally against war in Iraq." Well, I just hope the Navy Authorities take appropriate action against this moron!

I am sure that this "Protesting Petty Officer" is a "Petty Officer No More!"

To bust via Captain?s Mast or file charges under the UCMJ there must be an offence. Political demonstrations are not an offence BUT if the individual has a security clearance or is trusted with important tasks, he could find himself beached and being the PO in charge of his own mumu (belly button lint) forever and ever, amen. From long ago, I absolutely know that really bad things happen to people that cannot be trusted, especially when the ship has explosives, fuel, dangerous process, or is going in harm?s way. That includes everything in the fleet so that guy just may be out of luck. Or perhaps he?s an imposter; very common during VN war protests, or maybe just a retired nut case. I didn?t see the pic so I really can?t speculate as to who or what that guy was. But very definitely he is into the ?look at me? mode. That sucks and is unbecoming and odious to any well serving person of any branch of any era.

Have you heard of "conduct unbecoming an NCO"? How bout insubordinate activities ? I'm sure action will be taken against the young man.
